The past eight (or so) months in a nutshell...

so i've been avoiding my blog lately... it's not that i don't have anything to post, i just have kind of felt more private than usual... i don't know why. but for posterity's sake, here is the past eight months in a list, in no particular order:
-went to jamaica with Wes... it was his graduation gift from Rachel and I. it was SOOOO gorgeous and wes and i had a GREAT time. most beautiful beaches and the NICEST people... we miss it!!!
-was a brides maid for Rachel H. and Joanna B.... two long-time friends, so thrilled to see them hitched! both were seriously GORGEOUS weddings... and gorgeous brides!!!
-went to one of my bestie's weddings up in Victor, ID... SO BEAUTIFUL!!! i now LOVE the idea of destination weddings. i am so thrilled at Nate's choice... his wife is one of my FAVES.
-watched my baby brother graduate-- AND SOBBED!!!!! i've never felt SO PROUD of someone!!
-moved to san diego. I. LOVE. IT. HERE. i miss(ed) my people, being an hour away, but my very loyal friends have made valiant efforts to visit me often and not forget about me. i thought i would miss home more, but after the initial shock of being in a new place wore off (and my brother Spencer moved in with me to keep me company), i fell in love. i moved because i
-started big girl school, finally!!!! i'm now officially in my second semester at University of San Diego--GO TOREROS!!! i am seriously LOVING my school. i'm considered a "second-year junior" which basically means i'm taking 3 semesters to do my senior year, which why don't they just call me a 0.5 senior? who knows.
-got accepted into an archaeological field school in ISRAEL!!! could not be more ECSTATIC to be going to Israel this summer. I'll be doing a dig just north of the sea of galilee. lots of people have teased me about being an anthropology major (so what can you actually DO with that degree?) but now they are jealous that my study abroad opportunity is going to blow theirs outta the water!!! (DISCLAIMER: the location we are going is very safe and i will be very safe, don't stress.)
-went wake boarding and wake surfing and GOT UP!!!
-found out (albeit via facebook) that my Sister-In-Law is PREGGO!!!! cannot WAIT to welcome another nephew into this world... being an aunt is my all-time favorite job EVA!
-moved one brother out and the other brother in. i didn't realize i'd love living with family so much!!!
-got a chameleon. the guy is seriously adorable. his name is Neil Diamond.
-started 2 new jobs: i worked front desk/night audit at the Kona Kai Resort (my sister's other hotel... thanks, Rach!) and i now work for Farmers Insurance. I love the people i work with so it's not a bad situation at all!!

unbelievably excited.

so tyler's 6 month countdown begins in June. to celebrate, i made a list of things to look forward to in the meantime. there are two things (several, actually, but two in particular) that i'm ECSTATIC about:
1. Les Mis the movie [Dec. 2012] coming out with Hugh Jackman who is my all time FAVORITE FAVORITE FAVORITE! (i've been told that it's slightly unhealthy, but i'm a lover, not a fighter).

(isn't anne's (cleaned up) hair to DIE for?! what can i say, i'm a sucker for short hair!)

2. Blackbird Sister Mystery book #8 [August 2012]. Major guilty pleasure but i LOVE this series. i've blogged about it before. but "no way to kill a lady" comes out in august and i've already paid for my copy to arrive on the very date!!!! i CANNOT WAIT!!!!!

at any rate, anyone who thinks that i sit around moping is far from correct.... i simply make lists of things to be excited about until the big excitement happen. one could say i've been throwing an excitement party for the past year and a half.

i have been on a quest for good eyeliner. unfortunately, because i recognize that this can be a costly quest, it is also a lengthy one. the best eyeliner i can ever remember having was this liquid eyeliner i bought from the dollar store that they no longer have. i'm too afraid to try anything else new from the dollar store. don't judge. anyway, i've had to do the trial and error method and it's been... frustrating. so far i've tried:

-avon's glimmer stick: approximately $8 on average. (i've been using this since high school and finally gave up on it) and although it goes on gently (does anyone else have REALLY sensitive eye tissue that cuts like butter?) and fairly evenly, my oily skin still did not allow it to stay intact for an entire day. i would recommend this kind for those who have sensitive yet dry skin. i would imagine it lessens the likelihood of wrinkles developing because there is minimal pull.
Then i tried Urban Decay. slightly expensive than what i was used to. $19 at Sephora. It was a great dark color so i didn't have to go over the "lines" i created multiple times but it DID require sharpening (annoying and messy) and if i didn't realize it needed sharpening, it was likely i would get a lovely cut along my eye which would make for a make-up sabbatical whilst my eye healed. It also runs down my oily skin. I would recommend this for someone who doesn't mind sharpening on a regular basis, has dry ish skin, and likes the drama of dark eyeliner. (also: it is harsh-chemical free or something so doesn't cause sties- hurrah!!)
The next chapter: Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. $20 at sephora. i am praying that waterproof also means oil-proof. it's been a looooong time since i've applied liquid eyeliner so i am anticipating it to be a shaky situation but hopefully with some practice (and eye make up remover... i recommend MaryKay) i'll be able to come back in a few weeks and report good things. It comes in a marker-like contraption so there is no need to "re-dip" like mascara but not being waterproof can also mean unforgiving of mistakes. don't judge me if i look like a raccoon in the coming weeks.

Until next time....

the place for families.

it's been a long time coming. all of us together and no one is even knocked up! so this should be an accurate headcount for awhile, anyway.

the long and the short of it: we were early, he was late, we waited, he came, i cried, we hugged, then ate. happy to have our brother home.

i always wanted a twin sister...

1.5 going on 24.
our joint obsessions:
1. shoes-- homegirl will wake in hysterics if her shoes have been removed during a nap and requires they be placed in her bed with her at all times.
2. john cena-- we can't explain it. we don't try.
3. judgement eyes-- no one has truly lived until they've gotten lissy's dirty looks.
4. lemonade-- we will drink it whenever, wherever.
5. fear of things in costume-- need i say more?
6. bff's with Rachel A.-- we know where our homies are at.
